Phone: 521-7058

Phillis Gallaway - Registrar

The Vital Statistics Division continues to record every birth and death occuring in Henry County.  The Registrar issues certified copies of birth and death records as requested by individuals and funeral homes.  Once per month a list of all deaths occurring in the county were submitted to the Clerk of the Court and Auditor's offices for removal from the property tax exemption list and voter registration list, and a list is sent to the Social Security Office.

The Registrar assists in court ordered names changes, paternity affidavits and persons seeking adoption information.  The Vital Statistics staff aided persons seeking genealogy information, or record searches.  In June 2002 the division introduced a genealogy non-certified copy of birth and death records for the cost of $2.00 each.

A continuing feature of the Vital Statistics Division is requiring an application be completed with proper ID and kept on file for every individual requesting a copy of a birth record.  By state law every application becomes a permanent record in the Registrar's office.  Birth certificates are available in standard and wallet size, the wallet can be laminated for a $2.00 fee.
